Dubstep is one of those subculture music genres that still hasn’t quite hit the mainstream. You won’t see KIIS playing much of it, and it doesn’t quite have a home on the satellite radio stations, but it is gaining quite the crowd, mainly thanks to sites like Youtube, Myspace and SoundCloud, artists have media outlets to get their sound out. Many of these artists have found huge following using these methods. Skrillex is one name people hear quite a bit in the Dubstep world. He, among others, has paved the way for up and coming artists to showcase their talent.

One such band that is on their way up is called Klaypex. Although still relatively unknown, the band gained huge notoriety for their work in the Youtube video “Dubstep Guns” produced by Corridor Digital. With more than five million views on Youtube, the band was catapulted into the eyes and ears of the people they are hoping to get their music to. Their debut album, Loose Dirt, is available on their website for free, and for $9.99 on iTunes for those who care to support smaller artists.

The tracks on the album are very well done. Fans of Skrillex will thoroughly enjoy these tracks. Primarily, tracks “Rain”, “Chinter’s Will”, “Hit Me” and “Lights” are far and away the best on the album, and also happen to be heard in the YouTube video. The rest of the disc is also worth a listen. A cover of Katy Perry’s “E.T.” is interesting, although not the best on the album.

This is a group that will likely have a huge followup album. They are only getting better, and have potential to be one of the major players in the Dubstep world.
