NBC Cancels ‘Playboy Club’; Full Order to ‘Up All Night’, ‘Whitney’

In a single stroke one dies, two live on, at least until May.

NBC spilled the first blood of the new TV season by canceling the low-rated and ire of the Parent’s Television Council’s very being, The Playboy Club. Apparently attempting to replicate the Mad Men vibe nets you 3.4 million viewers and a 1.2 in the demo. Things didn’t start strong and fell progressively worse. At least the show lasted three episodes, which was more than Lonestar lasted lasted last season.

With the death comes new life as NBC has given full season orders to the laugh-track/audience “enhanced” Whitney and the awesome Up All Night (which hits pretty close to home being the father of a three month old).

More as shows live and die during the first month of the season as it develops.
